A lot of you are familiar with this recipe as you've probably tried this at your local Chinese restaurant. But do you know Chinese broccoli is different to what the western world called broccoli?

No? Well, you learn something new everyday! Here's how I enjoy this delicious meal kindly given to us by the Chinese.

Ingredients

🥦 350g W Bavette/Flat Iron steak

🥦1tbs cornflour, mixed in 2tbs water

🥦2 tbs @lkkeurope oyster sauce

🥦2-6tbs @lkkeurope soy sauce

🥦2-4 tbs @biona coconut oil

🥦1 egg

🥦Salt

🥦2 finger chillies, chopped

🥦Some oil

🥦2tbs cornflour

Method

🎬 Slice the steak thinly and set aside

🎬 Mix cornflour with 2 tablespoon water and also set aside

🎬 Add salt, egg, 2 tbs soy sauce, 2tbs oil and 1tbs cornflour to the steak and mix well. Let rest for at least an hr.

🎬 Add 4 tbs oil to heated pan. Wait until hot and sear the beef. Don’t overcrowd the pan

🎬 Boil broccoli and drain

🎬 Add some oil to the pan, add ginger and garlic, oyster sauce and soy sauce

🎬Add the beef and broccoli back to the pan with the cornflour mixture

🎬 Stir together until a small quantity of sauce has formed and coats the beef and veg

🎬 Serve with rice or just like that if you’re on a low-carb diet

Tips

✅ You can also marinate the beef by using egg whites only and whisking all the ingredients together before adding to the beef

✅ Run broccoli under cold water when you drain to stop it cooking and getting soggy before use

✅ For perfect balance with the tender beef, don’t overcook your broccoli. I avoid using frozen ones
